As Approx. 4000 flags were flying this weekend at the Tempe Beach Park, 3000 honored the victims of 9/11 and an additional 1000 had yellow ribbons tied around them to honor the solders that have perished in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The boots at the base of some of the flags were donated by soldiers or their families in memory of the troops that died in the 9/11 attacks.
It was terribly quiet that day...only the planes engines from above were to be heard.
This gentleman (FBI) volunteer fire fighter noticed smoke billowing from the Trade Center that morning.
He phoned his wife to alert her something was wrong.
That was the last she heard from him.
These boots donated by Luke Air Force Base, Az.
A mother stood and explained to her babies (maybe 4&5yrs old) why there was a teddy bear at this flag.
She told them this little angel was only two years old.
God Bless America is RIGHT!
I'm proud to be an American!
Thank you to all the men and women who serve.
